Paris
So I'm here I'm Paris. It's a beautiful city the language is beautiful and all but ya one week here is good enough for me. My brain can't handle all the translation. But I'm on my way to dance. Which I'm fucking so excited for I see the teachers have lots of great energy so I'm excited to step In and hopefully slay some choreo!! But it was a restless night without monkey next to me! I miss that face! Hahaha! The more I just dance and dance the days will go by till I'm back in London! I can't even describe the excitement. Sart working again as working dancer. But I feel the growth and I'm loving it. I can't explain the love I have for traveling and doing what I love. I wish every dancer could experience this. Or anybody for that fact. Find a passion and explore every corner of it culture. So cool thought the metro stop i get off is Bastille. I was born on Bastille Day which is the French Independence Day maybe its sign it'll be a good dance week!! Studio harmonic I like the style of the studio you walk in you see a big desk to the side that is attached to an area where you can buy food and drinks and then the opposite side of that is a wall where all the schedules are. Then straight ahead is a big as glass window that shows a class and in from of that is hella tables and chairs. Kinda cool. and there is an upstairs and downstairs with hella studios. Now I took Yanis a street jazz class. Ok I'm bout to go in on this guy. It wasn't like a class where you learned anything. It was straight choreo. Again a lot of small movement there was maybe one part where you had a moment but it was just hella fast. And not was it only fast but he taught like a minute worth of choreo in about 25/30 min. Mind you the class was an hour and a half long. And a guy was telling me it was his fourth time teaching it he taught it agai cause he wanted to film. Now, this is class not a rehersal you have students who paid for a class to learn something. Whether it e the mind, body, etc related. He have no room to do so. He taught the movement and then asked everyone to perform it with the music. By the hour mark I picked it up, but still there was nothing special about it. It was to rihannas birthday cake. He tried to hit every beat ad lyric ad boom. It was a hot mess. Like It was okay but if you looked at it you were like awwhhh shhiittt! No you were more like. Oohhh okay. Next. Lol. But some of his videos it were pretty good. So I don't know why happened. I use that as a back up class if I can't find a class worth not taking and I really need to dance. But im excited to check out this guy I'm about to take over here at Juste Dubout! He looked sickening! Now Juste Dubout is a very dope studio I like the vibe. bright green walls and dark purple accents. Big ass studios. His name is Zaess. Another jazzy funk class but he Had a sick style very Derrell Bullock (my mentor :) )meets Kyle Hanagami. So I really liked stayed with florian he was really cool and down to earth guy. Buuuut one problem, he had a cat!! And if any you reading this know me I am deathly allergic to cat. To make matters worse the cat slept right under my pull out bed and the house was covered in cat. My allergies are off the wall. Plus I had to leave on Saturday cause he had friends coming so the guy I am staying with let me come a night early. But it is going to take a couple days to get rid of these allergies, you would think I have the flu or something but I feel fine. Just my throat is hella scratchy, eyes hella puffy, nose stuffed like a bitch. I hate having my nose stuffed its the worse. But the guy is great and so nice. But I'm at the point when I was at Brandies and I slept in feathers=DEATH!! Any who I am at the new guys house and he is really cool, such a nice guy, and then Sunday night I am going to another surfers house for the rest of my stay! The guy I'm staying with no even printed me out a one page guide of everything I need to know. It's amazing, places to see, key words/phrases to know. It's so thoughtful, but that's what these couchsurfes, one day I'll return the favor!! But I've met so many cool people.
Back to classes though so Zaess class was dope! Gave my all, and being that it was an amazing song by Britney Spears helped, got filmed again so hopefully that will be up soon! He posts a lot, I can't imagine he won't put it up soon!! I liked it though I like the way he teaches, makes sure people understand the movement and goes over it and over it. Like a good teacher it's it about how much you teach it's about making sure your students learn something. But yeah I really enjoyed his class.
Next I took a house class with this guy Barham. There were only five people in his class. And keep in mind I am new to house as well, along with everyone in there so it was nice cause we got to do a lot of the basic stuff, I learn a shit ton in that class he was by far one of the best teachers, really took his time, drilled us, used great teaching techniques, I took a lot away from that class including being a sweaty mess! But I mean we did a lot too jacking, farming, gliding got a lot of basics from each and then some. I love that most classes out here are an hour and a half you get more, and you don't even tell they are an hour and a half.
Then there was Lassandra Ninja from house of ninja! Now most gouging training I have had it has been mostly old way or new way vogue, very little have focused in femme vogue, but let me tell you this was femme vogue all the way!!! And I was the only white guy in the glass. I think I surprised a lot of them when I started with duck walk and hand performance across the floor cause I can see all their eyes on me in a group of like ten they were all watching me. Oh but then we did a freestyle that's where I kinda blanked and started looking a hot mess cause then the attention was really on me and I kinda went from femme to old way real quick kinda forgetting all about femme. Yeah but the energy was bomb in that class, taught me a lot about being comfortable as dancer doing other styles I'm not so familiar with or afraid of. And femme vogue scares me. So I need to learn to not be so afraid of it! Why does it scare me maybe cause I don't like looking so gay, but I guess when your dancing it shouldn't matter right?!?! But yeah even after one of the forgers came to me and said your good you know but you have to get more comfortable. And I know exactly what he was talking about. But some of those people in there SLAY for femme! It was fun to watch the battle at the end cause them Paris boys do not fuck around in their battle. They go for blood! good class good class!
I hope not all the countries are going to be like this though cause even the dancers aren't very.....nice.....like most the people too. They certainly don't welcome you with open arms. Which is so not like what I am use to! Like bunny your dancer, your not the shit either so stop acting like it. But I guess it is the Parisian way! I'm hoping the rest are not like this! If so I will be going back to London a lot sooner cause I am not a mean person and I don't really like it!! Speaking of going places so, looks like Israel is out the question with the attacks and shit! Apparently Americans are warned it to go there! So hmmm where to make a week up?!?! Back to Ireland? Maybe a n place we shall see. I can't wait for Poland tho! Bring it on. I'm ready. After my sinuses clear of course!! Hahaha.
